Rebuild Camp Attocoa After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Camp Attocoa was hit, along with all of western North Carolina, by the catastrophic flooding and winds of hurricane Helene. Our roads, trails, sites and river banks have been eroded, damaged and in some cases irrevocably changed. Many thousands of dollars of gravel have washed away. Trees within approximately twenty feet of the river have all been felled along the river on the entire length of our property and will need to be cleaned up to access the river anywhere. Hundreds of pounds of debris/trash from homes and buildings washed away upstream and are littering the area of 50-60 feet of the river. Our permanent tables at the river front site are damaged severely and under many trees that will need to be removed before we can even begin to tear out and fix the damaged table and benches. Sand and dirt will need to be hauled in to fill in massive holes and erosion.
