Restore Bobbie's Home

Donation protected
Dear friends,

Unfortunately, I’m asking for help in regard to my mother. Like many out there, our lives have been going through difficult times, and ours continues to move in an unfortunate negative direction.

Many received my post from last year detailing my mother’s medical situation. After our dad’s illness and death 4 years ago, she had struggled through court with insurance, hospital bills and her own sudden illness requiring her to have heart pacemaker. When she finally returned home to recover, her pipes backed up causing major damage throughout the entire house.

We then had to deal with an “approved and licensed” restoration company that ended up being corrupt, dragged out the job for almost a year, then suddenly quit to chase bigger financial opportunities after the fires in Ventura County.  Although they asked to cash-out the project, the company refused to officially quit, hoping we would fire them, so they could turn around and sue us for the full amount of a job they had no intention of finishing.  The picture below is a fraction of the disaster they left behind.

Luckily, we were able to find a way out of the situation, but we are still searching for an available new licensed and approved contractor to finish the project before the insurance company kicks our mom out of her temporary accommodations within the next month. We also have to come up with additional funds for permits that were never secured and redo most of the initial work to meet the municipal code, because her insurance refuses to amend the claim and pay. We will deal with the culprits later as we do not have the time or resources to involve lawyers as we need to move forward quickly to make the house habitable for our mother.

My sister and I have exhausted our available funds covering most of the necessary work and materials the insurance company denied. While we are looking for solutions,  our family urged us to try and ask for help since the next steps are near impossible for us to currently solve.

We will need to raise at least 23K for materials, permits and re-construction work.

I apologize for reaching out to my love ones, co-workers and friends again, but we have run out of options and pride can no longer block our goal.

Thank you for listening and we greatly appreciate any way you can help (donations, sharing, posting, etc.,).

Sincerely,

Alycia

This is one example of a finished wall, plus the new tile was applied to green board without any waterproof protection.  All the internal plumbing was done and covered without securing necessary permits. This will need to be torn out for permit inspection and then redone. The other bathroom is in a far worse state.

I could go on, but I think you have the idea.  There are four rooms in the house that sustained significant damage and the rest of the home only required small fixes. At this moment there are no working bathing facilities, sinks, toilets or electricity in the bathrooms, which means the home is not habitable.

Anything you can offer will help our mom, Bobbie, get back home so she can concentrate on her health and wellbeing.
