Restoration of Tony Macaroni's

Donation protected

Update (March 11, 2018): We have come a long way with your generous help, but there is still a way to go. The foundations have been rebuilt and the deck has been replaced, but the kitchen, the roof, and the storage area under the deck still need work. This work is being delayed for lack of funds. Here's be break down of the work remaining with costs:

Rebuild storage area under deck (labor): $950
Kitchen sink, counters, shelves, wiring (labor): $2,500
Finish railing, roof (labor) : $750
Materials: $2,300

The total needed to get Tony back in business is $6,500. Please help if you can.

=======================================

Tony Macaroni's Conch Experience was devastated by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. The storage area under the deck was impacted by sand and the structure was weakened and partly demolished.

 Tony now has the permits necessary to reopen, but he does not have the funds. He needs $15,000 to rebuild the deck, the kitchen, the roofing, and replace the freezer and other equipment.

Please help contribute what you can to restore this Grand Bahama institution to its former glory. Let's get Tony back in business by Christmas!

Gofundme has asked me to provide more background details to the story here. Here you go, Gofundme :-)

Who you are

I'm a computer consultant, trying to retire, but my clients won't let me. My wife and I bought a condo in Freeport in 2005, and have been living there full or part time ever since.

>>> Where you're from

I was originally born in England, moved to America when I was 23, married an American and became a American citizen. As well as our condo in Freeport we have a home in San Francisco, and a canal boat in the UK where we spend the summers. Right now we are in SF, but will be heading to the UK in May, and then back to the Bahamas in the fall.

>>> Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for

I'm been a regular at Tony's place for years, either stopping off there in when I am out on my kayak, or cycling there for Jazz on the Beach on Sunday nights. Over the years, Tony has become a friend as well as the just the guy who makes the best conch salad in the Bahamas. He's a regular dinner guest at our condo and one of his unique artworks hang in our bedroom.

>>> How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)

All the money raised so far has been sent to Tony and spent already on reconstruction! This had included plans and permits, rental of backhoe and crane, replacment of foundation posts (materials and labor), replacement of decking (materials and labor). The remaining work to be done is detailed above.

>>>If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf.

We hae an agent who manages our property in the Bahamas when we are not there. We send funds to her via wire transfer two or three times a year to cover expenses, and instruct her to write checks to Tony from our account as Gofundme sends us the funds.
