Restock City Springs Library

Donation protected

Students from City Springs Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore come from the highest poverty rates in the city. This means the school community faces extraordinary challenges. But if you spend any time at City Springs you quickly realize that it is a very special place. This is perhaps best embodied by their motto that the school's color purple is "Not a color. It's an attitude!"

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, City Springs students raised $1,000  for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. The story of their enormous generosity and compassion for others is an example of what makes City Springs so special.

Included in the many challenges facing City Springs is the state of their library. Due to budgetary constrictions, the City Springs library has not seen a significant influx of funding in recent years resulting in depleted bookshelves.

In partnership with City Springs, the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $4,000 to directly benefit the City Springs library. All of the money raised will be directly used to purchase books for City Springs students.

Books matter. For most teachers, access to books for their students is taken as a given. This is not always the case at City Springs. Anything you can contribute to this effort will go a long way toward putting a book in the hands of a student who truly needs it.
