Restoring a legend: Huey UH-1 helicopter

Hello everyone,

In the beginning of last year, me and some friends aquired the wreck of an American UH-1 helicopter. The iconic 'huey' helicopter that served in the Vietnam war from 1965 to 1975. We are planning on completely rebuilding it, to a presentable display state.

Once rebuild we would like to use it, first off all as a mobile memorial; for all the troops who served in Vietnam, or any war for that matter.

Second of all, we would like to show the public what this helicopter looks like in real life and how helicopter crews operate. Visitors can come take a  closer look and even sit in this legendary aircraft. We are planning on going to airshows (in the static displays that is) and want to contribute to the educational aspect of these helicopters or warfare in particular to visiting schools and other groups.

Next to the historical value of this oldtimer, it is equally important, in these troubled times, to keep in mind how important peace is.

History has a tendancy to repeat itself, we must not forget about it, or it might happen again!

The public we aim for is very varied: going from the aviation enthousiast, to the visiting school class,  to the everyday visitor showing up at the various events we do.

Using this campaign to fund us, we would like to purchase new parts for the aircraft and most of all, purchase a trailer to add the 'mobility' to our project. It's a quite long aircraft and needs a special custom and legally made trailer to be able to get anywhere.

We've come quite a way with our own money, but now it's time to call out to the people for additional help. It's been a while since we called our huey a wreck, but the project is far from finished. Please help us out, getting our huey on the road.
