Rest in peace, Elizabeth Stowers

My name is Patrick Stowers-Schneider. I am Elizabeth's oldest child and the point of this page is to raise money for her service, and other general expenses that go along with her passing.

June 18th, 2017, Elizabeth was victim to a brain aneurysm and was transported to the University of Michigan to be treated. Elizabeth had been doing remarkably well and there was talk that she would be able to go home within the following days. However, things turned for the worst and they turned quickly.

Elizabeth's brain began to swell and her blood vessels began to collapse within the brain. Vasospasms, or tightening of the veins, began to restrict blood flow. Many measures were taken in an attempt to control the swelling, including removing a portion of the skull to allow the brain to expand without causing much more damage.

However, by this point, the damage was already done. Elizabeth had endured multiple strokes within a short period of time, and the damage to the brain was irreversible. Areas of the brain that were affected included the areas that controlled her speech, her breathing, her ability to move, her ability to have memories, her personality, the list goes on.

Being the next of kin, I knew my mother would not want the life that was ahead of her if she was to survive this ordeal, so I made the decision that she had fought long and hard enough, and it was time to rest.

My mother was a beautiful soul, known by all to be fun-loving, kind, sweet, and absolutely full of love and compassion. She would always put the need of others - even complete strangers - ahead of herself. It did not matter what anyone needed, they knew they could count on Elizabeth for love and support. She lived her life treating others how she expected them to treat her. She always worked with what she had to ensure that myself and my siblings had what we needed to survive.

The donations we receive will go directly to any expenses we face as we move forward without her. I am in the process of finding a temporary guardianship for my siblings and I have no doubt that there will be plentiful funds needed with all of the legal measures ahead of us with that aspect alone.

Thank you so much for reading this and have a great day.
