I’m not sure what to do in a situation like this...My Tia Rita and I had complicated relationship toward the unexpected end of her life...the time I thought we had to figure it out...is no longer here and I’m left not knowing exactly how to help, how to grieve and especially how to deal...and all I can think to do now, is try to rally around my cousins, whom I absolutely adore, to make the passing of their Mom, just littlest bit easier on them.
So I’ll start here...
On December 19th 2020 Rita Lopez was called home after suffering a devastating stroke on October 18th 2020...
If you knew Rita, you knew what an absolute blast she was...you knew that she was not just a guest...but the whole damn party, and if you didn’t know, she would tell you...or rather she would show you. Not only did Tia Rita live her life to the fullest she had strongest Lopez and Moreno pride around and absolutely adored her boys...her two first loves ...with all her heart and soul.
In true Rita Fashion she left keeping all of us on our toes, she went in and out as to insure us she was not going ANYWHERE with out a fight & fought she absolutely did...three long months of pure fight...for more time with Gilbert, Daniel, Kristyn, all 5 of “Mimas babies” and of course her beloved friends and Family.
Nobody really knows what to do in a situation like this...there is nothing that can be said to take away the pain, no money that could ever be paid to make loosing a Mom, Sister, Tia, Friend, Mima or Cousin feel better...but I’m hoping by setting up this page it helps to take the burden of end of life care, funeral costs, traveling, bills left behind and anything else that may come up as Gilbert and Daniel Navigate the process of putting their mom to rest.
My wish is they are able to grieve freely and completely with out the burden of money on the brain.
