On January 21, 2021 at 4:59AM, we received the worst news possible, our father passed away.

Our father was the last surviving member in his family. His parents passed when he was Nine-years old. He was taken under his sister’s care until the age of Twenty, where he then made the decision to become a soldier. The majority of his siblings passed on during his younger years and his last and only surviving sister who cared for him left this earth just a couple years ago.

His years as a soldier made our father the man he is today. A private man of very few words but will be remembered as a strong, gentle, loving and cheerful person. Our father survived and escaped the brutal Khmer Rouge Regime. He was sponsored in 1980, where he sought refuge in America; he and his army buddy flew to San Fransisco, CA & then to Des Moines, Iowa for a chance at a better life.

Years later, he and his buddy decided to make the move to California to start a new beginning. He found true love with our Mother and have been inseparable since.

Our father’s love was unconditional - he cared for his loved ones, as well as those around him.  He left a mark in this world as a loving husband to our Mother (Saroeum Cham), a Father to seven (Saroeung, Sarith, Molina, Sovanchanreaksmeay, Kevin & Jonathan), a loving Grandfather of four (Nathaniel, Laylah, Elijah & BellaRose), and an uncle to many nieces and nephews & an incredible friend to many.

On January 1st, our father was admitted to the hospital where we learned that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He was sent home that weekend with oxygen but was immediately rushed to the hospital on January 4th. After a couple days of waiting for an opening, he was given a room in ICU. He was put on sedation and then a ventilator. He fought hard for 17-days, until his lungs were to badly damaged. COVID-19 took over his body and his organs began to shut down. We thank the Doctors and Nurses for doing all they could to keep our father alive.

We understand that under the current state, times are tough for everyone.  Our family would greatly appreciate any donation, no amount is too small. (Donations can be made via our GoFundMe page, Zelle, CashApp or PayPal).

Please help us lay our Beloved father to rest. We kindly ask if you can spread the word & share this link. Stay safe and take care. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
