My Brother Gordon's Daily Struggles, He  Is Needs A Mini Portal Oxygen Machine To Have Any Sort Quality Of Life, He Is Just Living An Existence Not A Life As We All Know It.
From as far back as I can remember my brother has always had medical problems with his lungs from a young age and some years ago he was diagnosed with emphysema. For the last two years Gordon has lived 24 hours a day 7 days a week on oxygen and has been virtually house bound because he is unable to leave the house without oxygen. We have tried to seek help for him via the medical department of the Queensland Government and the new NDIS to source a portable oxygen machine but he neither is able to get any help from the government nor does he qualify under the criteria for NDIS assistance and we feel we have exhausted all avenues and now we are seeking your support for him.  Gordon's daily life exists of him sitting in his chair with his oxygen machine beside him. He has very little immunity to other infections with every bug going straight to his lungs and regularly needs to travel to the hospital for treatment. His only means of travel is via ambulance due to the ambulance having the oxygen he needs. Hospital trips are his only outings he gets these day and a matter of fact over the last two years which is heartbreaking. Gordon has needed full time care over the last two years and is unable to be left on his own. Gordon and his wife have both worked full time until this terrible disease got hold of him and caused then both to have to resign from the workforce. Gordon was a full time interstate truck driver and his wife worked for a government department.  They have exhausted all their finances on giving Gordon qualify of life for as long as possible but are now in desperate need of help to try and bring him some sort of quality of life.
They have needed to move into Brisbane to be near the hospital and with the cost of rent combined with the ongoing medical costs and general living costs they struggle on a daily basis. My brother has much he would like to do before he leaves us, with the most important thing to him he would like to tick off his bucket list is to travel to Aramac in Central Queensland with siblings to visit his father's grave. Aramac is roughly a 15 hour drive from Brisbane. For Gordon to be able to accomplish this trip we will first need to be able to purchase him a portable oxygen machine with a rechargeable battery system, including spare batteries. We are looking at the Phillips Simply Go Mini Portable Oxygen Concentrator, this machine will definitely give my beloved brother some sort of life rather than just an existence, which is much greater than what he has now. The cost one of the machines is quite costly and we are hoping to raise enough money to support this purchase as well as a little over so that we can help with some of the ongoing medical costs. On behalf of myself and my brothers and sisters we would like to thank you all in advance for your generosity and support for our dearly loved brother Gordon.
