Rescue Titan & Gemini

2/13/18: these are 2 horses who have been neglected by their owner for several years. I do not own them (yet!) but cannot sit back and watch horses suffer so I have taken it upon myself to care for them and get ownership released to me. I can not afford 2 horses with medical concerns and I’m asking for help.
Titan is approx 15 yrs old. He’s probably a warmblood cross and he lives up to his name, he’s a big guy! He needs the most help. He has severe summer sores that need daily medical attention. They have formed over time and due to chronic neglect became Cutaneous Habronemia, which is parasitic infection of the skin due to lowered immune function. Titan needs his feet worked on badly but we must heal his sores first bc he cannot bend his legs without pain.
We got him and Gemini wormed today and Titans sores were treated and bandaged but he needs several more pairs of bedsore boots to protect his legs while he heals. He also needs a strong supply of bandages until his legs heal.
Gemini is a young mare who is in better health than Titan but still needs her feet worked on badly. She needs to see a vet and get her vaccinations and her teeth floated, as well as Titan.
If all goes to plan, Titan will be moved to a soft pasture where he can lay comfortably and continue to heal and gain lots of weight. I look forward to seeing him rideable but if he is too far gone from neglect he will retire in his pasture and enjoy his old age.
Gemini seems like she has a bright future, and as long as she vet-checks healthy and sound, she’ll get to learn to do fun things in the arena and on the trail and finally get out of her pen that she’s been cooped up in for years!
