Cancer is the NUMBER ONE cause of line of duty deaths (defined as deaths associated with the job, not just on a scene).
Firefighters have a 20%+ higher risk of dying of cancer
than the general population. A 100% higher risk
of developing testicular cancer, multiple myelomas, lymphomas, skin cancer, brain cancer and more.
Robbinsville Fire Department has 21 personnel, including 3 volunteers. To purchase 4 cases of wipes per firefighter at $120/4 cases will be $2520, approx.
Josh Carney, a firefighter in SC, died at just 41 after 18 years of service, of firefighter occupational cancer. His wife, Lillian, started the Carney Strong Initiative
in his memory, offering grants to public safety departments in order to fund decon wipes for all. They are hosting a national Decontamination Day on 10/19
, to give out wipes to as many departments as possible.
We owe a lot to our first responders in Robbinsville, and this is an amazing time to give back! Wipes can also be purchased individually
and dropped off to the department! Please reach out to us if that is your chosen method of donation so we can note it.
