Rescued Dog Needs Your Help

Donation protected

We met this starving gal in Honduras.  Left out in the rain with almost no contact, she was incredibly sweet and hoping for a miracle. We weren't willing to let her evaporate, tied to a pole... so we took immediate action.  We named her Hope (it seemed appropriate) and started to look for help.

We took her to a local vet to get urgent treatment and to start the paperwork for an international trip.

We found a local caretaker to feed and support Hope while she waited for inoculations and government approval to fly.

Two weeks later, with the help of Dayna Morain and other friends (domestic and abroad) she boarded a flight to the US!

Once Hope arrived, the real challenges began.  She's been to three different vet hospitals in as many days. She has heartworm (Stage 3), several intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks, trouble breathing, and a very angry right ventricle.  All of these ailments can be resolved (with your help).

Hope is currently in the ICU at Colorado State University (CSU) Vet Hospital. Fortunately, this is one of the top veterinary hospitals in the world and they're only 90 minutes from us!  Despite the odds, Hope is making great progress (but has a long road ahead).

CSU have been kind enough to give us several discounts because they love Hope (as much as we do) but the costs are still significant.

Here she is in the oxygen chamber at CSU (poor baby).

Your donations will go towards:
- Keeping Hope in the CSU ICU until her major organs can repair.  She is making very good progress... it just takes time.
- Several key diagnostic and testing protocols to ensure we're covering everything and she's making progress as expected.
- Meds and treatment once she breaks free from the ICU!
- Hope's heartworm treatment (once she gets strong enough to endure it).

The requested amount is not random, it is a combination of:
+ The estimated invoice from East Alameda Vet Hospital (where we took Hope in the middle of the night when her breathing got scary)
+ The anticipated bill from CSU Vet for ICU, testing and planned treatment.

To this point, we have covered every cost from Hope's international flights, paperwork, tests, meds, inoculations, vet bills, etc.  ...Which have been significant.  We are not including these prior costs in the amount requested here.  This request is for funds going forward.

You are literally helping to save a life.  We are sooooo very appreciative for any help you can offer.
