Rescue Heather's Storage Unit

Donation protected
My storage unit is set to be auctioned on October 30th unless I can pay off nearly two years of past due rental and late fees by October 25th.  Additionally, I will need to relocate everything in the 10x40 unit.  The $4000 goal includes the approximately $2500 I currently owe with the additional $1500 to cover moving and storage until I have a chance to go through everything in the spring (going through unheated storage in the winter is just not going to happen).

There are a large number of items in the unit that have great sentimental value to me.  For example:
*My hope chest, which I've been planning to restore someday
*My Pop-Pop's (grandmother's) china, which was given to me as a high school graduation gift
*Paintings done by my Nana-da (my great-grandmother)
*Memorabilia from my childhood and high school, including my baby book, the first book I wrote when I was 6 years old, and playbills from my high school theatre productions

There are also many items that I used for events for Rewondered, including my 10x20 canopy, tables, mannequins and displays, lights, decorations, etc. as well as products I made such as scarves, tu-tus, magnets, bags, and jewelry.  My health is not the only reason I haven't been able to do any events other than Birka.  Not having access to these things has limited my opportunities to even attempt to make money.

The rest is what would be typically found in any storage unit: some furniture, clothing, household goods, etc.  It's basically everything that I packed into a U-Haul when I left Oregon and everything I have accumulated since.

I am happy to consider your donation a "gift certificate" for products I will be selling in the future (e.g. at Birka or at a yard sale or other event).  I also plan to do a massive clearance sale as I restructure my business to what I can handle physically and mentally.  Unfortunately, I do not have time to put that together before the deadline for this.

If I am unable to reach my goal, every bit raised will be used to attempt to get at least some of my items or to replace what can be replaced.

Other ways you can help:
*Share, share, share!
*I will need "local" people and vehicles to help me move stuff
*If you have "local" storage space I can use for a few months, let me know
*I am open to ideas!

(Note: picture is not of my unit, just a generic one I found online)

Further explanation of how I got in this mess:
In October of 2005, I packed up everything I owned into a U-Haul truck and moved from Oregon to Virginia.  Since then, I've lived in four other states, finally settling in New Hampshire in 2011.  Most of my stuff was left in storage in West Virginia and Ohio, but I finally got it all moved into a 400 sq. ft. storage unit in my current hometown a few years ago.

My health began deteriorating rather rapidly in 2016 and by the end of August I was facing the fact that I would not be able to keep doing events such as craft fairs and farmers' markets because the set-up and tear-down was just too much for me to physically handle.  The winter of 2016 into 2017 was especially rough and my recovery has been incredibly slow.  My income has dwindled to the few hundred dollars I make in January at Birka and the occasional online sale or custom work.  It was completely impossible to keep up with the payments on my storage unit, and I thought my stuff was long gone.  Receiving the notice filled me with both hope and heartbreak: hope that I might yet be able to reclaim those irreplaceable items and heartbreak over the impossibility of raising the money.

I know it is a huge amount of money to raise in a very short amount of time.  If every one of my Facebook friends chipped in $5, I would have it, but I am well aware that even $5 is tough for many of my friends.  But I also know that every little bit helps, and I greatly appreciate whatever you can give.
