Rescue Dan: Injured but Full of Love

Dan is a beautiful 2-year-old homeless boy. Shelter staff say he is a favorite because he is so remarkably sweet. His right front leg is injured. Because of that, he is scared to play with other dogs; he is isolated in a high-kill shelter. Dan will soon be on the euthanasia list and have 6-7 days to live. I do not have a lot of hope that an injured Pit Bull mix will be adopted. I have reached out to rescues, but they are all full, and none want to squeeze him in when they are looking at medical costs and adoptions (especially of big dogs and Pitties) are at an all-time low. I know that to many, Dan is just another dog. And he belongs to a group of dogs with similar characteristics that people fear and misunderstand. (I adopted a Pittie not knowing he was one. He is such a gentle sweetheart, an intelligent, athletic, and calm boy who is great with kids…not what I had expected.) So back to Dan—his life is valuable, and he’s only 2 years old! And this loving, beautiful boy is living crated in a shelter, holding up his injured leg day after day after day, nearing euthanasia.

Every penny of donations will go to the rescue that steps forward to save Dan from the shelter (with the incentive of donations to cover medical costs) and will be applied to the costs of diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating Dan—whatever that looks like—and then finding him an adopter.
