Rescue 1914 Cottage & Farmstead

1914 Cottage Rescue on the Joseph and Rosa Wilson Farmstead. Come take a tour after you make a donation of $20 or more. Trying to rescue this 1914 Homestead Cottage and the whole farmstead at 11190 Old Pueblo Rd. The recent hail damge will make it possible for the painting of the exterior to be redone in 2018! Guest from around the world are by their stays helping and paying for repairs, bills and improvements for this State Historical Homestead that people in the community have been so interested in preserving. Several tried to purchase it for community use but they could not yet come up with enough money in the past. I work as monitor on Fountain School bus to help pay for health insurance. (Flood insurance was not required when we bought the property. It has since been required even though it made it through the last one hundred years without the house being damaged at all by flooding.) Suddenly we got a letter that it no longer needs flood insurance! I also work at Fountain Creek Vet Clinic and as a Certified Nurse assistant to try to pay our own expenses. I do not see how to continue to work like this past the age of 70 which is fast approaching if I can keep working that long. I will add more details if you are interested. I am asking for your help at this point to continue to repair and rescue this homestead building on the farmstead along with the main house that was built from Sears Catalog "kit" as our home. I was given a loan to cover $10,800 worth farmstead electrical improvements and Insurance only paid $250 for code upgrade. My husband works as Pastor at Hanover Community Church. He also rescues Jeeps as a hobby. He has fixed and sold several old Jeeps and their parts to make house payments on top of using the housing allowance from being a pastor and selling the ranch where we raised cattle for over ten years to make what we have done so far possible. We have given our all and I ask for help at this point as he recovers from open heart surgery and the bills continue to mount up. Maybe you have an idea, want a tour or would just like to help in some way. Here goes! It is a big step for me to risk publishing this. Please encourage me to continue to make this a farmstead that can be enjoyed for generations to come. I will consider applying for zoning variance and or non profit statis. The near future list also includes the following: Restore the Horse Lean To Barn, Restore fence around the pasture. Pay utilities Repair old walls in the basement. The siding is being rescued for restoration and that will give it a possible place on the National Historic Register. Restore chicken house Carpet in house to replace indoor and outdoor carpeting put in around 1950's Tile bathroom floor Replace plastic tub and shower Stain back porch of cottage Fix porch floor boards Paint kitchen ceiling Plate rail in kitchen. Thanks to you and others we are making progress. The new paint is going on the wooden siding now!
