Help Replace Beloved Trombone!

As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours.
My roommate and coworker happens to be going through a monsoon at the moment. A few weeks ago, he unfortunately stumbled upon some medical issues. In the interest of his privacy, I won't reveal the details, but I can say he did need to have a procedure done, one that he is still currently recovering from. To make matters worse, the morning of the surgery his car was broken into and his beloved trombone stolen. While it had monetary value, the true loss was in the sentimental value as it held connections to his fraternity.
The loss of his trombone also creates another problem. My roommate plays in a salsa band. He spends hours practicing to make sure he provides the best sound he can. While he does have a backup trombone, the instrument is of very low quality and is hardly playable.
Which is where you come in.
I am looking to replace his trombone with a nicer one. I reached out to a few music stores as well as my old band director to get an estimate as to how much an intermediate trombone would cost, and it seems I'm looking at a price range around $1000-$2000, with the specific one I was quoted being $2150.
I know many of you have already asked me if there's anything you can do to help, this is it! Any amount will help, even if we don't reach the goal, I hope to raise enough to at least get him a decent student model.
