Replace Lost Books due to Camp Fire

Donation protected
I know I will come to miss so much of what was once a normal life, but as a teacher, as a historian, as of this moment, the grieving is over my small collection of books, my own personal library that were lost when my home burned in the recent Camp Fire. In particular, about 70 or so sat on a four-tiered shelf in front me when I went to do work at my home office desk. I am Joe Krulder, a historian who lives in Butte Creek Canyon, Butte County California.

These collected works - now lost - targeted my own book project, the one that is due to Routledge on April 30 of 2019. These books held special meaning. Some were signed by historians I knew. Some I had lent to students which, occasionally, came back with skittish marginalia. These books were a nine-year collection. Many were purchased in Wales, at Hay-on-Wye. Others found at library book sales, some delivered to my door. They were a near decade-long obsession with attempting to understand the past, the human condition of the long eighteenth century. Two had arrived but three days before the fire.

I am done dwelling. It’s time to rebuild that library. I will use these funds to repurchase what was lost, books dedicated to my own manuscript project. I  am Joe Krulder, PhD from the University of Bristol, working on a book about the execution of Admiral John Byng. But now I need your help. I am asking for your donation, thank you!
