<div>We, Ramona and Charlotte, have launched our project RePete in Kenya to promote equal opportunities in education and to raise awareness about the textile handling between Europe and Kenya together with Africa Collect Textiles. Our goal is to emphasize the shared responsibility for the end-of-life of textile products and to clarify that all parties involved – producers and consumers – must work together to tackle the challenges of textile resources.

<div>Driven by a passion for sustainable solutions, we acknowledge the overwhelming influx of low-quality textiles from Germany and others flooding East African markets, leaving communities burdened and alone. These textiles not only harm the environment but also fail to provide infrastructure for reuse or processing. Our project, RePete, began breaking the cycle of textile waste last March, starting with workshops at Nairobi's Mararui Primary School and Matthew 25 Children’s Home. Here, we taught children how to transform recycled textiles into valuable products. We envision using educational workshops as a powerful tool to change the world, inspired by Nelson Mandela's belief in education as the most powerful weapon for change. We have planned further workshops in Nairobi, specifically targeting young women, and are also preparing to conduct workshops in German schools to spread this transformative approach. Extending to the industry, we aim to rescue textiles from ending in landfills, creating socially impactful products and advocating for responsible global practices. Every contribution is vital to establish our pioneering concept. Your support helps us change the textile narrative, investing in education, and fostering a fairer, cleaner world for the future generations.

<div><strong>Textile Recycling: Shredding/Pulling Machine:</strong>
</div>
<div>By acquiring a shredding machine, we'll facilitate the on-site recycling of textiles, repurposing old clothes into useful materials for diverse applications. This effort significantly contributes to waste reduction and supplies the raw materials needed for creating sustainable products. We are actively seeking a donation from a textile company or aiming to secure funding that would enable us to purchase the necessary equipment. The machines we need could range in cost from €300,000 to €500,000 depending on the machines, representing a substantial but crucial investment in the future for the company Africa collect textiles.

<div>-Funds will be used for materials and tools to create backpacks, school supplies, Vlies (non-woven fabric), insulation materials, and other innovative recycled textile products.

<div>Angetrieben von unserer Leidenschaft für nachhaltige Lösungen, erkennen wir den überwältigenden Zustrom von minderwertigen Textilien aus Deutschland und anderen Ländern, die die ostafrikanischen Märkte überschwemmen und die Gemeinden belasten und allein lassen. Diese Textilien schaden nicht nur der Umwelt, sondern es gibt auch keine Infrastruktur für die Wiederverwendung oder Weiterverarbeitung. Unser Projekt RePete hat im März letzten Jahres mit Workshops an der Mararui Primary School in Nairobi und im Matthew 25 Children's Home begonnen, den Kreislauf des Textilabfalls zu durchbrechen. Dort brachten wir den Kindern bei, wie sie aus recycelten Textilien wertvolle Produkte herstellen können. Außerdem sind wir dabei, Workshops an deutschen Schulen vorzubereiten, um diesen wertvollen und transformativen Ansatz noch mehr Schülerinnen und Schülern zugänglich zu machen. Wir haben uns viel vorgenommen: Wir wollen Textilien vor der Mülldeponie retten, sozialverträgliche Produkte schaffen und uns für verantwortungsvolle globale Praktiken stark machen. Dabei ist jeder Beitrag wichtig, denn nur gemeinsam können wir unser bahnbrechendes Konzept etablieren. <div>Durch die Anschaffung einer Schreddermaschine erleichtern wir das Recycling von Textilien vor Ort, indem wir alte Kleidung in nützliche Materialien für verschiedene Anwendungen umwandeln. Dieser Einsatz trägt erheblich zur Abfallreduzierung bei und liefert die Rohstoffe, die für die Herstellung nachhaltiger Produkte benötigt werden. Wir suchen aktiv nach einer Spende von einem Textilunternehmen oder hoffen zukünftig eine Finanzierungen zu sichern, die es uns ermöglichen, die notwendige Ausrüstung zu kaufen. Die Maschinen, die wir benötigen, könnten je nach Maschinen Kosten von 300.000 bis 500.000 € verursachen und stellen eine erhebliche, aber entscheidende Investition in die Zukunft Kenias, sowie der Arbeit des Unternehmens Africa Collect Textiles dar.
