REPAIR RESTROOM & CHAPEL FROM VANDALISM

Laurel Cemetery Association, an all volunteer group of individuals concerned with remodeling and repairing the severe damage incurred by two separate vandalism break-ins, is asking for financial assistance from our families, friends, and neighbors. Repairing the restroom is imperative as the vandals stripped the room completely down to the insulation, taking the copper from the wiring in the walls, the wall board, the light fixture, the commode, the flooring, the vanity, mirror, but left the sink. We would like the restroom to be ADA compliant so our clients who require a bit more room due to wheelchairs or walkers will be comfortable using our restroom.  Also, adding a corner shower is advantageous to the staff who have been working in the cemetery to be able to clean up before heading home. We would like to have work started on the restroom within the next couple of weeks because the weather is getting colder and the only access to the restroom right now is an outside entrance.  A doorway will be cut in to the wall from the chapel to the restroom so there will be an inside entrance from the chapel to the restroom and the outside entrance will be sealed off.
The chapel and offices are in need of repairs such as double pane windows, new lighting fixtures, carpet, paint, window treatments, and central air and heat. Nothing has been done to either the chapel or offices since 2011 when a new roof was put on the chapel  and carpet was laid in the chapel and the offices. That carpet is showing extreme wear and tear and is shredding in some places. The walls are in need of a good grade of paint. The paint that was used in 2011 is peeling and cannot be washed as it comes off the walls. The light fixtures are a combination of fluorescent tubes and kitchen light fixtures which do not shed much light in the chapel whatsoever. Two of the windows have bullet holes in them and all of the windows are in need of replacing due to lack of complete closure thus letting in warm air in the summer and cold air in the winter. The curtains that are currently covering the windows are old, musty smelling, and shredding.  If they are washed, they will surely fall apart.
Having central air and heat will be a great advantage because the power bill will be lessened. The staff is currently using a portable oil heater in the cooler months and a portable air conditioner in the warmer months. These units are costly to run, however, they are what is available at the moment.
Having the restroom, chapel, and offices repaired and remodeled will be nothing but advantageous to Laurel Cemetery. Laurel Cemetery Association will be able to rent out the chapel for different events such as bridal and baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, as well as other events. Being able to rent out the chapel will bring in revenue to help offset other bills that incur throughout the month. That revenue will also help to purchase other items for the cemetery such as outdoor lighting, a front gate, fencing, etc.
Needless to say, it would be awesome to receive this funding as soon as possible. We want to engage workmen to start the repairs and remodel before too long so we are asking our family, friends, and neighbors to please help Laurel Cemetery Association accomplish this endeavor. Laurel Cemetery Association will be ever so grateful for your financial assistance. Thank you. God bless.
