REPAIR OUR COMMUNITY SPACE

Donation protected
(NOTE FROM WELWYN HATFIELD CVS)

What about

Hatfield Connect is a community space, donated by the owners for use by voluntary and charitable organisations at little or no cost and available to all for hire.  It was donated by the owners through 50 Square Ltd for the good of the community and we were thrilled to see it being filled with local charities to support our towns most vulnerable.

This break in has left us crushed, all the good work we have done has been setback but it will not stop us in creating a safe place where charities and social groups can meet in a safe environment.

There is so little low cost community space in Hatfield for groups to meet that we are really excited to be given this opportunity to make a success of this community hub.

MY STORY

My dream was to set up a centre where children on the spectrum, children with ADHD and any child who needed it could find a safe place to learn and play.

My own son has autism and I knew how much this was needed in my community.  I found a perfect community venue through CVS ( which my son loved because he could watch the trains go by) and spent many MONTHS sorting out this centre so that children with autism and Adhd have somewhere to go to socialise and learn.

It’s a charitable project and it's been a lot of work raising funding and source bits for it, slogging day and night to make it somewhere lovely for vulnerable children.

It was due to open later this month and my dreams for the families in the local communities were about to come true until this Saturday.

A group of teenagers broke in for a rave and destroyed the place.  In fact, the investigating officer said its the worst she's ever seen.  All that work, on my own, for nothing.

They've absolutely destroyed the toys and resources I'd bought, smashed walls in and graffiti everywhere.  Every carpet is covered in evidence of drink and drugs

I'm so gutted but my local community has blown me away with their kindness and support so I have set this up to try and raise funds to get the building back on its

feet and try and launch as soon as possible!

If you could help in any little way, it would be so appreciated.
