Reopen the Minden ER, Protect Rural Healthcare
Donation protected
In the heart of cottage country, a picturesque scene unfolded - the tranquil lake reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun and laughter echoing from the kids at the water’s edge.
Suddenly, amidst the idyllic setting, a life hung in the balance. Jack's heart failed, and hope faded until Grandpa Jack arrived at the Minden ER.
The Minden ER saved Jack, just as it has saved others' lives and served as a lifeline for countless families and individuals in our rural region.
From beloved cottagers, seasonal visitors and full-time residents, the Minden ER offered peace of mind and a legacy of healthcare accessibility that spanned the generations. Unexpectedly, the tranquillity of our region was shattered by the abrupt and permanent closure of the Minden emergency room.

The closure of the fully staffed Minden ER has left us grappling with uncertainty and fear, wondering where to turn to and who to trust when medical emergencies strike. We feel let down by the leaders we once trusted and supported, who have made life-altering decisions without involving our community.
In the face of this adversity, we refuse to surrender hope – hope for the revival of the Minden ER and hope for safeguarding the well-being of accessible healthcare in all of our beautiful communities across Ontario.
When seconds count, timely access to an ER is critical. Your contribution today can help us fight to reclaim this vital lifeline in our community and help us continue to demand that the Minden ER reopen. Join us in protecting the foundation of rural health everywhere in the province.
Since the announcement of the closure in April, our advocacy efforts have generated significant and in-depth media coverage throughout Ontario and Nationally. Sadly, Minden isn’t the only community facing healthcare challenges. Over twenty rural hospitals in Ontario are dealing with sporadic, temporary closures, leaving these communities vulnerable and underserved during times of need.
Every dollar you donate will go directly towards sustaining our mission to revive the Minden ER and safeguard public healthcare by shedding light on the widespread problem of ER and hospital closures across Ontario. Your generosity empowers us to continue championing accessible healthcare for all rural communities, ensuring that integral services remain available when and where they are needed most.
Your contribution will allow us to reach decision-makers, rally support, and ensure that the united voices of our rural residents are heard loud and clear. Privatization of our healthcare services is not the solution.
Visit our Facebook page to see the initiatives that are already underway, including the Rally and Hometown Concert for Uniting Rural Communities and Emergency Health Care on August 26th. Minden has become Ground Zero for this vital issue with the only permanent ER closure in Ontario and centrally located. We are uniting all rural Ontario communities with a common voice to advocate for rural Emergency Rooms.
The relentless closures and instability underscore an incredulous reality - Rural Communities are under attack. Access to essential medical services should not be a luxury restricted by geography. Closures of rural ERs erode the very foundation of public healthcare, jeopardizing the well-being and safety of countless individuals who call these places home and all the travellers visiting our beautiful province.
Addressing the healthcare issues will require a commitment from policymakers, healthcare providers, and community advocates to find sustainable solutions that prioritize the well-being and safety of all residents.
We know that times are tough, and many causes are competing for your attention. Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a tangible impact on the lives of real people. Help us fight for rural healthcare, help us fight for Jack and others like Jack. Donate Now.
Your impact can multiply when you share our plea with others.
Many Thanks,
