Reola's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On Saturday December 30, 2017, after returning home from her workout, Reola McKinney suffered a stroke. Luckily with the quick response of her daughter, Reola was taken to the emergency room and admitted promptly.

After being in ICU for approximately a week, the swelling in her brain had subsided and she was moved to the Methodist Rehabilitation Center to focus on her recovery.  On Thursday, January 11th, after a couple of days of what seemed like successful progress, doctors rushed her back the ICU after tests revealed there was additional bleeding from the original hemorrhage.

In an effort to reduce the swelling around the brain, neuro surgeons closely monitored the situation and initially declared that no surgery would be required due to the situation being non-life-threatening.  However on Wednesday, January 17th , after a decline in Reola’s condition, she was rushed off for surgery.

After successful surgery, Reola remains under constant watch, as the goal now is to reduce the swelling around her brain.  Doctors have yet to determine the initial cause of the stroke, nor has a recovery time been specified.  We know that as she progresses, it shall be a long road ahead consisting of speech, physical & occupational therapy.

Reola’s spirits remain high as she continues to fight this long and uncertain battle.  Her daughter Allison has remained by her mother’s side since the beginning, but as you can imagine it is quite the task. The creation of this GoFundMe account is to help offset expenses incurred by the family for food, travel, loss of work, medical bills and/or care.

We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that you continue to pray for her speedy recovery.  Reola’s family will deeply appreciate any donation large or small, for anything will be a blessing.

We shall continue to update you through this site.

Thank you,
