<div><strong>Wat is er aan de hand?</strong>

<div>Op 9 oktober 2023 werd bekend dat de rente op de studieschuld van studenten per 1 januari 2024 vervijfvoudigt. De gedupeerde studenten dagvaarden DUO, omdat zij van mening zijn dat DUO zijn zorgplicht heeft geschonden. DUO heeft namelijk onvoldoende informatie verstrekt over en niet genoeg gewaarschuwd voor de (financiële) risico’s die kleven aan de kredietverstrekking.

<div><strong>Wat gaat er gebeuren? </strong>

<div>Een groep van studenten sleept DUO voor de rechter in verband met de stijging van de rente op studieschulden. Zij hopen hiermee een macro-effect te bereiken voor alle (oud-)studenten, zodat de rentestijging wordt teruggedraaid. Daarnaast wordt, in samenwerking met Niet Hun Schuld, onderzocht of volledige compensatie voor de pechgeneratie tot de juridische mogelijkheden behoort. Indien dit het geval is, wordt ook dit onderwerp onderdeel van de dagvaarding.

<div>Legal Advice Wanted maakt deel uit van het procedeerteam en advocaten mr. C.C. Delpeche en mr. F.C.R. Keijzer van Knoops’ advocaten hebben zich bereid verklaard als procesadvocaten voor de gedupeerde studenten op te treden tegen de Staat/DUO. Om deze studenten van de best mogelijke juridische vertegenwoordiging te voorzien, zijn er natuurlijk financiële middelen nodig. Om deze middelen op te kunnen halen, is er een crowdfunding gestart door Stichting Beheer Studieschuld.

<div><strong>Wat gebeurt er met jouw donatie? </strong>
</div>
<div>Jouw donatie maakt het mogelijk om de vereiste uren in de vertegenwoordiging van de studenten te kunnen steken. Daarnaast worden de donaties gebruikt om de noodzakelijk administratieve kosten, zoals het griffierecht en de deurwaarderskosten, te kunnen dekken. De onafhankelijke en zelfstandige Stichting Beheer Studieschuld ziet erop toe dat jouw donatie goed wordt besteed.
