Rent for a friend, sleeping in his car

I have a friend who is struggling with his situation, it is starting to get cold through the winter nights in Canada. He is currently sleeping in his car and living out of his backpack. So I wanted to surprise him for Christmas with enough money to pay rent for his first month so he has time to save up for the next month
