This is a piece the National Radar wrote on Dante Ameperosa, North Valleys Senior..
In the heart of Nevada, a young football player is making a profound impact on the defensive line, and his journey is not just about the game but a legacy of love and dedication passed down through generations. Dante Ameperosa, a 5'10" and 145-pound defensive lineman from North Valleys High School, is not just a player; he's a living tribute to the sport that binds his family together.
Dante's journey into football began at the tender age of 6, inspired by his two older brothers who were already deeply entrenched in the game. Their father, a former Pop Warner player turned JUCO athlete, played a pivotal role in fostering Dante's love for football. "His love for football carried onto me. He was at every practice and every game. His love of watching me play will stay with me forever. I don't just play for me... I play for his memory as well," Dante reflects, underscoring the emotional connection that fuels his passion for the game.
Standing at 5'10" and weighing 145 pounds, Dante may not have the physical stature of a giant, but his leadership qualities, good lateral quickness, and coachable spirit set him apart on the field. These attributes, coupled with the inspiration drawn from his family, have molded Dante into a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line.
This season, Dante has set both personal and team-oriented goals. "A main personal goal that I have this season is to make my football social status more accessible, whether it's online or to communicate in person. A team goal is leadership, to help my team achieve their full potential," Dante shares. His aspirations extend beyond individual achievements, focusing on fostering a sense of community and leadership within the team.
Off the field, Dante is not just a student-athlete; he's a model student. Described by his teachers as an independent working student, he is always focused on improvement. "They would say that I'm an independent working student, always focused on what has to be done and what I can do better. They would also say I have good character and treat everyone with kindness," Dante notes, highlighting his commitment to excellence both academically and personally.
Dante's on-field prowess is undeniable, setting new records for his school's sack statistics with the most sacks in one season, most sacks in a career, and most sacks in one game. These achievements not only reflect his individual skill but also his dedication to leaving a lasting impact on his school's football legacy.
When asked about his football inspiration, Dante doesn't hesitate: "My Dad. He taught me the love of the game. He inspired me to play football when I was young and taught me to never give up." The emotional connection to his father's legacy fuels Dante's determination to excel on the field and beyond.
Looking to the future, Dante envisions college football as the next step in his journey. "A college should recruit me in the future because I am focused on succeeding. I want to attend college to continue my education. I also want to bulk and get stronger and better at what I do on the football field to hopefully be a professional football player after college," Dante asserts, underlining his unwavering commitment to personal and athletic growth.
As Dante Ameperosa continues to carve his path on the football field, his story is more than just statistics and records. It's a tale of family, love, and a deep-rooted passion for the game that transcends generations, making him a player to watch as he strives for success both on and off the field.
