On Monday July 8, 2019, Kenneth Spence woke to a phone call that informed him that the church where he serves as Minister and Evangelist  was on fire with some damage to the inside. As he gathered his family and made his way from Philadelphia to Camden he thought the worst. Even his worst thoughts couldn't prepare him for what he saw. As he arrived with several other members following behind him, it was realized that everything was gone. The Church was insured until December 2017 due to the company desiring to pull out of Camden-City.  For a year and a half, Bro Spence and other members searched for an insurance company that would insure in Camden-City but due to various companies' unwillingness, the building was uninsured at the time of the fire.

With worship services, feeding the homeless, clothing drives, nursing home singing, and many other outreach opportunities, the church has been a beacon in the community. Not only has the church made a difference in the community but also to various generations of members. Camden COC is a place you go to be fed, to be heard, to laugh, to cry, to be healed, and to be loved. The bones of the building are strong and it is our goal to rebuild and renew the building where it stands.

We are reaching out to as many as we can for your support in renewing the Camden Church of Christ's building. Its members are strong in faith and will continue to give and do the work of the Lord. Please help us. No amount is too small in the kingdom of God and all is greatly appreciated.

GOAL: #RenewCamdenChurch

Buildings aren’t the Church. The community of believers is. We will continue to serve the Cramer Hill section of Camden with as much love and dedication as we have over the last 35 years.

This fire gave us a chance to clear space for what God will bless us with to expand our offerings to the community over the next 35 years.

In order to rebuild and begin our process of physical renewal, we must handle a few tasks over the next 90 days that are of vital importance. With winter on the horizon, we want to be aggressive with our plans.

PHASE 1: Clean out, Assessment, Demolition, Site Security
ESTIMATED COST: $30,000

Priority in the first 30 days is to get the building cleaned out from both the fire and the extinguishing of the blaze. We seek to obtain a contractor who will clean out the building debris, remove the debris from the building, and secure the facility with both roof coverings and any other openings on site.

Also, we will have contractors, engineers, architects, come to our site to determine an appropriate course of action.

PHASE 2: Survey, Consultation, Legal, Pre-Construction
ESTIMATED COST: $50,000

Initial consultations will help us secure the site, but we will then conduct assessments and make prepares for the process of rebuilding our physical home.

PHASE 3: Initial Construction
ESTIMATED COST: $220,000

Once plans are solidified, we will secure a contractor, a bank loan, and begin the initial construction to ensure we have exterior work completed before deep winter.
