Hi, my name is Katelynn and I am fundraising for my mother Reneé Gerry. If you are a local from Lincoln, ME. you probably recognize that name. She is a social butterfly, a best friend, a mother, an advocate for others, and she wears her heart on her sleeve. She has most likely served you a drink, offered you some friendly advice, welcomed you to her home town, been your waitress at a local eatery, gave you her last dollar, or hugged you when you needed it most. She has spent most of her life making others happy and giving back to her community through the restaurant service industry. She is always the first person to step up and help whoever she runs into. It doesn’t matter if you’re her best friend, family member or a stranger, she will always help you. What she struggles with the most is asking for help… and she really needs all the help she can get right now.
Her whole life has been crashing down around her since a knee injury she sustained in January 2023. She has been bound to crutches for the last year. She has been out of work for the last year. 365 days of pain. 365 days of fighting for assistance from the State of ME. 365 days of financial stress. 365 days of feeling helpless. 365 days of the unknown.
She is currently waiting for a knee replacement that keeps getting postponed due to other medical complications. On top of the medical issues she is also struggling to keep her home heated and buy basic necessities. And as the old saying goes “when it rains it pours”. This has proven to be true for her. Recently her car lost the brakes while going down the Transalpine hill and is no longer drivable. She is lucky to be alive, but is left without a car until she can afford the repairs. Although life keeps throwing her obstacles she is staying strong, because that’s all she has left. Her strength. She is trying to keep her head held high in hopes that this all will soon be a distant memory. But as of right now this nightmare is her current reality.
So, I’m here to be her advocate and continue to fight for her. I’m asking that you consider donating whatever feels right towards her cause. She deserves financial abundance sent her way in her time of need. We appreciate anything you can give towards her journey to surgery and recovery. Thank you for reading her story. Please share it with others that can offer their help as well.
