How do you tell the story of one of the dearest friends you have ever had? You just take a deep breath and begin.
I have known Rene' for years and you might say we have been through the mud with each other. Divorces, marriages of children, grandbabies, her son going the army and serving in Afghanistan. Working together for years serving the children of Beaumont and surviving the demise of our district durng a very difficult time.
Rene' has always been one of strength, humor , compassion and dedication. From being a Garth Brook groupie to digging for treasures at Canton, she has always been a source of comfort and fun. So how did she come to this point in her life.?
Rene' had not been feeling well for awhile but as all moms, grandmothers and wives she put it aside thinking it would get better. It didn't! The unthinkable happened and she was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer. Her family, her church and her friends all looked at each other in bewilderment- who ever heard of Bile Duct Cancer? Being Rene', she tackled the fight with unrestricted strength, will and determination. The fight proved to be more difficult than we all imagined. She is now unable to work , not receiving a paycheck and is fighting for her life. A miracle is what she needs and we are all praying for that to occur in her life.
In the meantime, the bills are adding up and the strain on her and her family is mounting. We are asking for any help you can give Rene' and her family. Prayer certainly but if you can spare a few ,please donate to this Christian woman. Knowing Rene' as I do this has been the hardest thing for her to do. She is always in the position to help from buying clothes for children at school, who don't have anything, to listening to the woes of her friends. The whole time her son was serving our country in Afghistan, Rene' never waivered in her love for this country. She was a strong American mom who sent her only son into the throes of danger. Her son returned home safe and now has a family and child of his own. Rene' is also the proud grandmother of a brand new grandbaby and has a daughter who she idolizes. Rene'(also known as Honey) desperately wants to see these babies grow up and be productive citizens in our world.
Many have asked "why are you doing this" and I simply answer because I can. Rene' stood by my side when I lost the love of my life nine years ago and now I stand beside her as she fights for her life.
Miracles can happen and we all believe this will occur for our friend who is a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Won't you help up lighten the load as Honey fights for her life?
