Renata's ED Treatment MX

Donation protected
Renata is 14, and was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa in July.  After 14 weeks of in-patient hospitalization/treatment in Plano and NG tube feeding, she was "weight restored" and discharged. Though physically she was better than when she started, the disorder only grew and her mental health declined rapidly.  With lots of research and contacting different residentials, hospitals and other institutions, and with time against the odds, we found a clinic specialized in eating disorders and with a different psychological/psychoanalytic approach in Mexico City. It was a very difficult decision in all aspects, but we believe it is the necessary step to restore Renata's physical and mental health. This being said, it has been 6 weeks out of the minimum 12 since Renata was admitted there, and she is improving. Slowly, but surely. However, with treatment costs not being covered under insurance here or in Mexico (pre-existing condition), medical costs we are still paying here, as well as travel costs back and forth, it has become difficult and financially straining for our family. We don't like to ask, but we've learned that it is ok and necessary to reach out when needed. There is no donation too small. We are humbled and send you all of our blessings and appreciation.
Anorexia Nervosa is the deathliest form of mental illness. If you want to learn more about this disorder, please visit the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA).
