Remembrance Service for Ken Hines

Donation protected
Kenneth Robert Hines, was never known as Kenny. He was just Ken, and to many, Dad. Didn't matter if they were blooded family or not, many people knew my father as Dad.

Dad was a "big guy" but you could never mistake him for being a big tough guy. He had a smile that lit up the room, and he gave that smile freely and abundently.  His piercing blue eyes were kind and sparkled anytime he talked about his family.  He had an infectious laugh, and gave the best bear hugs.

I could write novels about the goodness of my dad. Stories from many others could illustrate the joy and laughter he brought to all those he met.

But it is with the heaviest of hearts, this post  is only partially about sharing the stories of joy he brought this world. Because, on Saturday August 19th at 10:40p he was taken from this world very unexpectedly.  What we know is that he had a wonderful day off, spoke to his younger brother on the phone, had pizza with his youngest son Robbie, and was waiting for the love of his life, my mom, to come home so they could catch up on the day and head to bed.  We belive a massive heart attack took him  quickly and without pain. And now our angel on earth, has returned home to Heaven and watches over us from above.

We are all holding on to each other and wrapping his love around us as we try to figure out what our life looks like without him in it.  Part of that struggle is finding a way to put this amazing man to rest, especially when we're not prepared, emotionally, spiritually or financially.

We've been debating on the next best steps, a family friend recommended taking it to social media. I've been torn personally about this, but I can hear my dad's voice in the back of my mind.  " What's the worst that can happen Cori? Put it out there, see what happens." So dad, here it is.

Dad asked to be cremated, and wanted something simple  that focused on happy memories and the celebration of his life.  We have life insurance policies, but it takes so much time to get the money from them. In the interim, we have the funeral expenses that need to be covered.  Any money raised will go directly to the expense of having dad cremated, and honoring him with a simple memorial service.  My brothers and I are going to start a memorial fund at a bank as well, and will have more information on dontating directly to that fund for those that would rather not use GoFundMe.

Your prayers, stories of dad, tributes, pictures, and support are greatly appreciated. Your happiness and memories help bring all of us some measure of peace. Just knowing that his memory will live on in so many lives is solice we all desperately need now.

If you are compelled and able to donate financially, please know it will make a positive difference in our life that we need right now.

In the memory of my father, and in his honor, may you own every minute that this world has to give, and may you live with joy and happiness in your heart, surrounded by those that you love and treasure.

Thank you,
Anna, Cori, Chris and Robbie
& the Rest of the Extended Hines Family.
