Salute To Service
Donation protected
Each year, the Royal Canadian Legion does an immeasurable amount of good for veterans, active service people and their families across Canada. The Legions provide financial aid, mental health resources, national representation, and support for military families free of charge to all members. The Royal Canadian Legion also plays an important part in the fostering of continued Remembrance in Canada by running the Poppy Campaign, hosting Remembrance Day ceremonies, and engaging in multiple youth outreach initiatives to ensure the feeling of appreciation for the continued sacrifice made by Canada's Service people is carefully passed from generation to generation. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has presented a great challenge to many Legion branches as social distancing protocols and lockdowns have made traditional ways of fundraising and donation collection extremely difficult.
Vancouver's West Point Grey branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is a cornerstone of the Kitsilano and University of British Columbia communities, who routinely do incredible work with their members and for the general public. Over the last two years the Covid-19 hardship has been especially problematic for the West Point Grey branch given the astronomical property tax in the area. This year, the men of Beta Theta Pi wish to do their part to help the Point Grey Legion offset some of these costs while advocating for the significance of Remembrance Day as we approach November 11.
From November 1 to November 11, the men of Beta Theta Pi will be completing 45,400 pushups for the 45,400 Canadians who died in World War 2 to help fundraise for the Point Grey Legion. We will also be collecting donations for the Poppy Fund around campus and at our house, located at 2140 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1W6. Come by and donate for your poppy!
This fundraiser means a lot to the men of Beta Theta Pi, and we hope that it does to you too. Please donate today and for every donation we will include an option for a brochure on the Beta Theta Pi family members who have served in Canada's Armed Forces (available upon request).
