Remembering Julie

Yesterday, my mother passed away unexpectedly at 42 years old. She would have been 43 on Saturday. One minute she was here, laughing, playing with my son. The next she quit breathing. The ambulance rushed her to the hospital, and we got there with the highest hopes that she was going to be fine. Never thinking in a million years that she was gone already.

You never expect to be sitting in that room hearing a doctor tell you I'm sorry, we did all we could do but she's passed. Her heart just gave up and we couldn't get it going again.

It was the single most surreal and heart breaking moment of my life. Nothing prepares you for that. 

Now, amidst all the heart ache and the void we all feel, we are faced with having to come up with the money to give our momma a proper burial. My father is left behind with 2 young boys who are only 13 and 14. My youngest brother,Austin, is mentally and physically disabled and my mom was his primary care giver his whole life. He was her whole world, as was all of her children and grand children. 

Sitting here, with tears running down my face feeling like my heart is about to burst from the amount of pain I have been feeling since we found out, it kills me to have to ask for help. 

My momma was a good hearted person, she would give someone the shirt off her back if asked. She never asked for anything for herself, and her main concern was that her children were taken care of. And now I just want to give her something in return. I just want to give her a proper funeral, and a nice place to lay at rest where I can take my son to visit. He loved his nana to the moon and back. And she him. I just can't believe that she's really gone.
