Remembering Cataleya

On August 16th, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Cataleya Michele Robinson, who was born 2 1/2 months early. Our fiesty little soldier progressed with flying colors and was moved to the last room before preemies come home from their life in the NICU. On September 7th, she was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease called Necrotizing Enterocolitis. NEC is an infection where tissue in the small or large intestine is injured or begins to die off. The Yale New Haven Hospital performed surgery on our little girl to extract any infected tissue the same day. Unfortunately, even after blood tranfusions, platelet tranfusions and medication the infection was relentless. Cataleya's body fought hard and long but got too tired to keep fighting. Christopher and I received a heart-breaking phone call that our daughter was still very sick and needed to immediately go to the hospital to "discuss the matter". We were told that our daughter's body was no longer responding to their interventions, in short, we were going to have to say goodbye soon. We did so on the day she turned 4 weeks, Septemeber 13th at 12:24 a.m. In these hard moments of us needing to explain to her 2 year old brother that sister is not at the hospital, of trying not to call the NICU to see how she's doing, in knowing we wont ever welcome her home, we learn that insurance will not pay for her services. Please help us give our flower the garden she deserves to sleep in forever. Any donation is an extreme help and our family will be forever grateful. May God bless our child and all of you as well. Thank You
