</div>

<div>As you may know, our beloved teacher and friend, Mr. Derby, passed away suddenly on July 2. His legacy is one of compassion, inspiration, laughter, and excellence, and his impact on our community will never be forgotten.

<div>Lily, Mr. Derby's wife, shared these heartfelt words about him:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>"Mr. Derby was a 'slightly famous author, amateur photographer, monkey trainer, twelve‑minute rock star, five‑minute TV star, two‑minute movie star, and fisherman' — titles he wore with humor and joy. But above all, he was a passionate educator who gave his whole heart to his students. His legacy is one of compassion, inspiration, laughter, and excellence. His sudden passing on July 2 has left a space that can never be filled, but his light will never fade. It lives on in every student he taught, every soul he touched, and every life he made brighter just by being in it. He was the best husband, the best father, the best friend — a man whose heart overflowed with kindness, compassion, and love. He treated everyone with respect and dignity, never stopped caring, and was always ready to help. It was enough to look into his eyes to know: he was pure love. To every student who knew him: you carry his legacy forward — in your kindness, your curiosity, and your courage. Hold it with love and pride."
