Remembering John Parker of Alexandra Nurseries
Mission accomplished!
We are pleased to say that after off-line donations are added, the necessary £3,048 has been raised! What an amazing community Greater Penge is!
Many many thanks from the Friends and especially from John's family for all who contributed to this fitting way to remember John Parker.
He is a much missed member of our local community. It is so fitting that there will be two benches in Alexandra Recreation Grounds, near to the Nurseries, where people will be able to sit with a coffee and remember him.
The Friends are currently liaising with Owen to select a site(s) in the Grounds for the benches.
We will publish on the Penge Tourist Board FB page the date when the benches will be "officially" installed and we can gather to remember a life well lived.

And as a reminder what this is all about….
John Parker started Alexandra Nurseries on Parish Lane over 10 years ago transforming a derelict builders yard into an amazing garden nursery, coffee and gift shop and a community hub in the heart of Penge.
John died from cancer earlier this summer at the age of 67.
A few members of the local community approached the Friends of Cator Park and Alexandra Recreation Ground about the possibility of raising funds to have a park bench(s) installed in his memory in Alexandra Recreation Ground. John’s son Owen (who now runs the Nurseries) is fully supportive of this idea.
It is a lovely way to remember John and all that his hard work and vision have brought to our local community.
