Remembering and Celebrating Natan's 42nd Birthday

While we miss him every single day, this season is particularly hard and provides us with an opportunity to remember him, his zest for life, his loving kindness and his willingness to give contributing his time and whenever asked his financial support.  Many benefited from his generosity. This is a special time of year that Natan looked forward to, a time to gather with friends and family to cook, eat and just enjoy those he loved.  He would have turned 42 this December and in honor of his birth and his gentle spirit we ask you again to contribute to the Second Annual Natan Maimes Service Dog Scholarship.

The last three years of Natan's life were enriched and filled with love because of his constant loving companion, "Travel" who helped him navigate the world as a seizure response and PTSD service dog. Both Natan and Travel trained with Sharon Wachsler and her team at At Your Service Dog Training.  This two-year intensive program can cost upwards of $25,000, and if not for the generous donations and undeniable support of Natan's friends and family, training would have been impossible.

There are so many people whose lives would benefit from a service dog but cannot afford the cost of training.  Sharon Wachsler, owner and head trainer of At Your Service Dog Training, LLC reports that to date the Natan Maimes Service Dog Scholarship has subsidized training services for a number of beneficiaries including a local veteran, a woman with a traumatic brain injury, a a student with psychiatric disabilities. 

A scholarship memory of Natan has been set up and partially funded to help those who cannot afford training.  Our goal is to grow this scholarship with hopes that others may be blessed, as was Natan.  Please consider joining us as we celebrate Natan's 42nd birthday by giving the gift of service dog training and continue to keep Natan's legacy alive.
