(Re)Making Rhiannon

Hello! My name is Rhiannon.

2020 has been crazy for everyone, but in October, I had a rather startling realization: I am a transgender woman. Thankfully, my wife is so incredibly supportive and ready to take on this journey with me, and so many of my friends and family have shown support. Unfortunately, transitioning is expensive, especially when done in your 30's, and I have other financial obligations to my family, including providing for my child, Graham, and hopefully buying a house, particularly one big enough to be able to house and care for family members who may eventually need help themselves.

Health insurance is expensive in and of itself, and it will only cover a few procedures and services that will be needed. Put quite simply, I would feel selfish putting what little gains I have fully toward my transition, so I am setting down my pride and putting my hat in my hand for some help.

So, what types of trans care will this go toward? Let me give you a list. I like lists.

Items to begin social transitioning before surgery:
Health care premiums
Family and personal counseling co-pays
Vocal feminization training
Wigs
Clothing
Makeup
Skin care products
Shaving needs

Medium-ticket items for transitioning:
Hormone Replacement Therapy (Even if insurance picks this up, the copays can be ridiculous)
Hair transplants to fight my male pattern baldness
Permanent hair removal

Big-ticket items/Long term goals (These typically do not happen until at least a year after starting hormone therapy):
Facial Feminization Surgery
Top surgery (potentially)
Bottom surgery (potentially)
Other feminization procedures

In addition to directly contributing to my trans care and mental health, I am hoping to use some of this money to get better recording equipment so that I may begin uploading videos to Youtube and streaming on Twitch in order to advertise and continue this campaign and perhaps give me an avenue make this more self-sustainable.

Not in a position to help financially? I totally understand. Want to help in some other way? Please share this as far and wide as you can. Even the tiniest contribution from distant strangers helps! You can also join me in voting for candidates that push better better healthcare initiatives such as Medicare For All or other single-payer systems and candidates who advocate for covering trans care.

Thank you for the consideration. I have a few videos already made about the very early parts of my transition that I am considering uploading as well, pending interest.

May you find peace and love,

-Rhiannon W.
