I, Donna Pope, have resorted to appealing to you for HELP. I am the Mother of Rebecca and have done all I can to help my daughter and grandchildren.
Rebecca is a full time student with four children, two of which are disabled. She is very proactive with the well being of her kids medical/mental health needs and homeschools the oldest.
THEY NEED TO MOVE! I helped pay for another place to be put on hold before her lease expires...this was the ONLY WAY to INSURE that she not end up in another HELLHOLE. I can do no more...and time is of the essence...Rat infestation and lack of landlord intervention has presented a need for my daughter, Rebecca, and her four children to move before her lease expires in FEBRUARY. She can move into the new place in December, if funds are available in time.(housing Inspector will expedite, exp. below) The amount we're asking includes the move-in cost of $1800.00 with the remainder to help with replacing some of the damaged household goods and the cost of moving.
Just a glimpse of the damage caused by rats...they destroy everything! Every bed in the house has been destroyed.

Holes throughout the house were filled, by landlord, with (touch'n foam) "Mouse Shield"...many were reopened the same day by rats!
The black filth, rats constantly leave, is appalling!
Dishes aren't safe in the kitchen cabinets!
New refrigerator cord destroyed by the rats...and notice the black sludge...the filth is a consistant & constant cleaning chore.
Chunks of drywall & black sludge everywhere...usb cords, electronics, are chewed and the dogs have to chase off the vermin from their food.
The pictures posted are a few of the issues shown that Rebecca and her children are dealing with.
Her children are anticipating a better place to live while they help with the cleaning.
Any amount of your help will be greatly appreciated.
Oldest Grandson throwing out another piece of furniture damaged by rats...
..and another piece damaged by rats. They've lost a lot of clothing, furniture, and bedding, due to the infestation. All dry goods have to be stored in metal trashcans. Rubbermaid, plastics, are CHEWED UP.
The Section8 inspector was appalled by Rebecca's living condition and failed the inspection. However, time has to be given (once again) to the Landlord to address the rat infestation issue that he has ignored all year. The Landlord has this month to totally eliminate this problem and that is impossible. Reinspection is before THANKSGIVING and it is then that housing will be able to break her lease. Rebecca & her children will have no place to go until funds are secured to move into the house that is on hold for her!
