Relieving Stress From Medical Bills

Donation protected
For the next three months, our agency will continue to hold the flag of making a difference for families battling cancer, serious illness and disabilities by focusing on medical bills. Many of you probably know Troy Pettus, but what some of you may not be aware of is his current battle with cancer.

Troy grew up a family man and has been married to his lovely wife, Mary Beth for almost twelve years raising their two daughters, Ally Kate (11) and Addy Karsen (9). With the new school year, Troy was granted the title of head girl’s basketball coach for Brooks High School in Killen, Alabama where he was beyond excited for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, this is also when he found out about his diagnosis.

After a scan of what they thought was a hernia of the groin, doctors found a cancer tumor on Troy’s left lung. After several scans and tests, he was told he had Stage 1 Adenocarcinoma. A couple weeks later, October 25, 2018, Troy had a lobectomy (removal of his lower lung).  He then was told that lymph nodes which were removed during surgery were positive for cancer which moved his diagnosis to Stage 3 . Two weeks later he received a port in his left chest and began his first round of chemotherapy. He will receive 16 rounds of chemo which will be once a week.

Recognizing how important medical assistance is, Troy and his family are doing everything they can to help in his recovery but are in need of our support.
