New Liver, New Life for Bob

Donation protected
At the end of January,  Bob was experiencing pain in his stomach area and went to see his doctor, who referred him to the ER. While there, he learned he had liver complications but could recover with the proper diet and care. After going home for a few days, he started feeling terrible and ended up back in the ER. It took doctors about 5 days to discover he had picked up a bacterial infection from his first visit called C Diff. This C Diff affected his kidneys, causing them to go into failure, which put additional strain on his liver to the point the doctors say he is need of  a transplant. He was given antibiotics to clear the infection and started on dialysis. The hope was that once the C Diff was out of his system, his kidneys would rebound. All was going well and he was transferred to a step down facility to start PT, receive his dialysis treatments and further recover before going home.  After being there for two days Bob  started to not feel well again and when he went in for his dialysis, it was discovered that his white blood cell count was elevated. Somewhere along the line, he had gotten another infection. He was re-admitted to the hospital, this time to  ICU. They  determined the infection and gave him antibiotics, which he responded to and thankfully after a week in ICU, was moved to a regular floor for further treatment.  Just this past Friday (March 2, 2018) Bob was finally able to go home. During his stay in the hospital, we have reached out to University of Michigan, where we are hoping to get him in for an evaluation for a liver transplant. This is a lengthy process that will require travel to and from Ann Arbor, as well as overnight stays in hotels.  Bob and Stacy are currently supporting their family off of  Stacy's income, meaning there is little left for the upcoming expenses that will be necessary to have Bob evaluated and hopefully transplanted.  There are already many unpaid medical bills from Bob's month and half stay in the hospital along with Stacy's medical bills from her strokes last summer.  Any funds raised will help relieve Bob and Stacy of the upcoming expenses of traveling too and from his transplant evaluations and doctors visits as well as help cover previous expenses incurred from his long hospital stay. These funds will also provide their family with peace of mind, which during this time, is so very important for all of them and to Bob's health.  Thank you so very much for reading his story and for your consideration. Together we can do hard things!
