Relief funds for Guides, Porters and Local Staffs

Coronavirus has affected all of us in one way or another but with the tourism completely shattered, tourism workers have been hit harder than most. With daily cases continuing to rise in Nepal and the tourism being shut down since March 2020, all our guides, sherpas, and porters remain jobless for almost a year, whose economic livelihoods rely on trekking and mountaineering tourism.
With daily COVID cases continuing to rise in Nepal (86,823 cases as of Oct 5th), the autumn season remains affected as well; leaving the guides, porters and local staffs jobless since November 2019. The government has announced to open the tourism from October 17th 2020 onwards but with the quarantine protocols mandated in Nepal and travel restrictions imposed across the world, the certainty of being back in the mountains is not guaranteed anytime soon.
At, Highland Expeditions , We are a small team of guides and porters working passionately in the mountains. Due to COVID-19, all our Spring trips were postponed and the upcoming autumn season remains badly affected with 99% trips postponed. We are also not sure if 2021 will see tourists visiting the Himalayan destination but we remain optimistic and in the meantime try to provide our guides, porters and local staffs a helping hands.
A lot of our previous clients have asked how they can help during this pandemic. At first, we decided not to start fundraising as this has affected all of us around the world. We postponed all our spring trips in the wake of COVID-19 and we were hopeful that the autumn season will be safe and operable. But, with the COVID cases continuing to rise daily and travel restrictions imposed across the world, the autumn 2020 season remains inoperable. Thus, we are raising the funds now to help our guides, porters and local staffs during this pandemic.
Your support will be used to pay their rent, feed their families, and keep afloat during this difficult time. Your generosity can help the guides, porters, and their families impacted by this critical financial disaster. 100% of the raised amount will directly go to our staff.
