Relief Fund for Professor X (Jacques Bousquet)

Not sure how most people start these things! Let me tell you a little bit about what's been going on with my family for the past few months. Many of you already know, but on August 1st my brother suffered a very serious injury to his spinal cord. Jacques had been skateboarding, getting up to really high speeds before some grooves in the road caused him to have to bail. In the process of this wipeout he smashed his head on a pole. That night an ambulance took him to UMass Medical and kicked off by far the biggest curve ball of 2020 for us all, especially him. The accident resulted in him suffering breaks in his neck and back; he broke 4 vertebrae and had to get 12 staples in his head from where he hit the pole. The injury to his spinal cord left him unable to use his lower body, from his armpits down. He ended up having to do two surgeries at UMass to fuse his vertebrae together, taking some of the pressure off his spine. Towards the end of August, he was transferred to Boston to start doing rehab. He is currently kicking the ass of his rehab program, constantly trying his hardest to get his body back to where it needs to be. Somehow he's been keeping that typical, cynically positive attitude that is my brother. As of October, he will officially have been away from his home, his family, and most importantly his son for two months. Mid October, he'll be released from the rehab and will be coming back home (yay!). Unfortunately, the road to recovery is a little longer than we all had hoped. We had all hoped that he would be leaving rehab with some function in his legs; this is not going to be the case. There's still alot of work to be done before he's walking again. And while he's completely prepared to do that work, it's an entirely new and unprecedented situation. Long on the short, I'm starting this GoFundMe because there's gonna be alot of financial hurdles when Jake gets home. My mom is going to need to do some work to make her space accessible for his wheelchair and all the healthcare workers that'll be in and out of our house. Any equipment and stuff that he'll need. Maybe some experimental treatments that could give him superhero powers as a side effect. Oh, and he also needs a pimp-tastic wheelchair. That's alot of dollar signs (probably). Those of you who know my brother know that he's one of the most generous and hard working people out there. He's the first person I know I can call if I need a hand with anything. And he's also the most stubborn person I know; when he puts his mind to doing something, IT GETS DONE. Which is how I know he's going to walk again. We all just gotta help however we can. In the interim, I'm asking for support from you guys. Anything you can give helps out. I know 2020 hasn't been kind to anybody, and I don't expect to make the goal amount, but that's not gonna stop me from trying!! If you've got any questions or anything feel free to reach out to me on my Facebook or through my cell #; my mom has a ton on her plate, so I'll be her secretary for the time being. And remember: if Joe Exotic could do it, so can my brother.
