Most of us know Kyle Koliha as a dear friend, a teacher, a kind soul, and a brilliant musician who would come to the aid of any friend in need. This is Kyle's hour of need, and this is our chance to help him.
On Sunday, Oct 1st, Kyle became the victim of a startling and unprovoked outburst of violence, which resulted in a broken jaw, surgery, (a pile of medical bills), ongoing recovery, and countless lost wages. Followup appointments have revealed the need for a second surgery in the near future, as there is a high concern that Kyle may have permanent nerve damage in his face. This would be a serious life changing circumstance for Kyle, as his livelihood is performing music and singing.
The reason for the urgency is the nature of this brutal attack. Kyle endured a sucker punch to the face, and then suffered a kick to his head while he was down. At first I did not want to acknowledge that this type of brutality existed in our town, but unfortunately it does. Most of it was recorded by the surveillance cameras of a local business.
While there is a current attempt to recover Kyle's medical bills and lost income, the process is slow and uncertain, with no guarantee of restitution. The funds collected here will go directly to immediate expenses: rent, medical bills, and legal costs as Kyle fights to gain some reimbursement.
