We, Smrithi Narasimhan and Meghana Balabhadruni, are gathering funds to benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and any donation will help make an impact. An alarming 1 in 8 people within Contra Costa and Solano counties turn to the Food Bank for sustenance. This was before the devastating COVID-19 crisis struck. Just last week, 6.65 million people in the U.S. filed for unemployment! This pandemic will drastically cause the number of people who will rely on these organizations for food to skyrocket! To help the Food Bank fulfill its mission of distributing food to underprivileged individuals, we organized this GoFundMe.
Food is not a privilege, it is a necessity. Education is essential, and we believe that in these uncertain times, a student should not be concerned about when they will receive their next meal. Because of this, we initiated this cause. We are sophomores at California High School, and we are offering math tutoring for students until Algebra II to offer our support to our peers. We hope that our community is motivated to donate. Simply 1 dollar provides 2 meals for people in need!
