Relief for TX GEE Group Offices

This GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of the GEE Group leadership team, by Taylor Allen (a GEE Group employee). All donated funds will go to GEE Group employees that have been directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are coordinating all financial donations which will be dispersed from a GEE Corporate account and distributed based off of the direct needs of our Houston-area GEE Group employees. We wanted to update everyone on the Houston employees and their well-being as many around GEE Group have inquired. The Power of One theme for GEE Group applies to our business and how we support one another. We want to bring that same initiative to the assistance of our Houston people.

First of all, everyone and their families are physically fine and safe. We have spoken to or texted with most of them on a very regular basis. Unfortunately, in the early part of this week a number of them were displaced, some were out of town and couldn’t get back to their homes, some were separated from their families as husbands stayed behind and wives and kids evacuated and others simply stayed in their homes waiting out the flooding and doing what they could to salvage things and help others.

The devastation is unbelievably widespread, and the emotional and mental strain of thinking about what it’s going to take to get back to a state of normalcy is overwhelming for those most impacted. The amount of loss varies with everyone. It ranges from a few people on our team who were not negatively impacted other than being stranded in their homes as flooding surrounded the areas around them to others losing cars, personal items and possibly their homes. It is a fact that fewer than 20% of Houston residents have flood insurance because it’s simply not offered in most areas and hurricane insurance does not cover flooding. This means that the financial losses will be catastrophic for many in the Houston area and significant for some of our people.

We are working to do a couple of different things to support them and this is where those who would like to can help at some level as a part of the GEE Group family.

· We are doing an SNI volunteer/give back event through the North Texas Food Bank in the next 2 weeks for the Dallas area employees to pitch in and help support the food needs in Houston

· We are going to make arrangements for the Dallas area offices to donate clothes, shoes and necessities for adults and kids. We plan to offer what is collected to the SNI families first and will then distribute the additional items to the broader community as there will be no shortage of needs. Henry Rienstra, one of our Houston Managing Directors, is communicating with the Houston employees to compile a list of the most needed items. We will gather those things next week and get them to the Houston team.

As we do what we can to support those in Houston, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as it will be a long and difficult road out of this devastation, but the resolve of our Houston group and the overall support from our GEE Group teams will prevail.
