Shelby was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in recent years and it has progressed to the point of her medications not being as effective as they should. Doctor's have done what they could to prevent surgery but that is no longer the best option for her health. On Februrary 17th she had the first of three surgeries for a deep brain stimulator. She will be off from work for approximately 8 weeks and this will be a heavy financial burden for her along with the expenses of the surgery. She is a single mother of four children and although she has sick leave this process is going to exhaust her resources. She is considerably young to have been diagnosed with this condition, the medications she has been taken have had signifigant side effects-sudden weight loss, vivid nightmares, tremors and frequent headaches.
