<div>I’m writing this with a heavy heart in hopes of helping my Mum find some relief from the overwhelming financial and emotional burden caused by her ongoing battle with cancer.

<div>Last April, Mum was diagnosed with liver cancer. After months of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and countless hospital visits, we were given hope when she was declared in remission this past December. But despite all of her strength and determination, her most recent PET scan revealed that the cancer has returned and spread to her bones, along with additional spots on her liver.

<div>Since then, she has been in and out of the hospital due to severe pain, infections, and complications including sepsis. Even while going through treatment, she has continued working caring for senior adults whenever she is physically able, simply to help keep our family afloat. My partner and I have done everything we can to contribute toward household expenses, medical costs, and daily necessities, but despite our combined efforts, we are falling behind.

<div>Mum has already exhausted her savings and retirement funds trying to stay ahead of mounting bills and medical expenses. We’ve had to rely on credit cards just to cover essentials like heating oil, electric bills, car insurance, and home insurance. Now, with a second round of chemotherapy and treatments ahead of her, we are facing even more uncertainty, including medications and treatments that may not be fully covered by insurance.

<div>On top of everything, Mum is still carrying debt from veterinary bills after losing her beloved senior dog to cancer last year. It has been an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking period for her, yet she continues to face every day with courage, positivity, and love for the people around her.
</div>

<div>Our goal is to ease some of the financial pressure so she can focus on what truly matters right now: her health, her treatments, and spending meaningful time with the people she loves without the constant fear of bills piling up.
</div>
