Our plan is to do the same in TX: load up a rental Ford F150 with specific supplies, camera gear and head to Houston. Relief efforts, clean-up and flooding isn’t over in TX and now is when on hand help is need the most with animal relief efforts, help distribute donations, demo & clean-up and basically what ever is needed. In addition, we will possibly transport animals back up north based on shelter needs if that is a reality. Knowing this is going to be a long journey of recovery for TX.
Aiming to arrive in Beaumont, Texas and start from there, a centralized staging area at Ford Park Entertainment Complex. Then coordinating with several local groups we researched: The Cajun Army in Beaumont and Austin Pets Alive in Katy, TX staging area, Interfaith of Woodlands a local outreach community programs in Conroe, TX and Cypress, TX. Which organization we work with directly will be based on which spot needs us the most and we will determine that once we get there.
The donations will be needed specifically for travel expenses to get us to TX for volunteering and photograph for a solid 3- 4 days and to bring the correct supplies for families. As the journey progresses we know things can change from what we experienced during Katrina.
We want to be prepared to do as much impact as we can in 5 days. Heading out Thursday afternoon flying into New Orleans with donated miles on SW. Pick-up a F150 then head to TX Friday morning. Supplies change daily, so our plan is to assess the situation once we get to NOLA before driving to TX and then gather supplies as we drive to TX.
Most of you are familiar with the work we have done during Katrina and know that we go to the area in need and asses in person who needs the help the most. That is exactly what we plan to do. The relationship we have with each organization and family will develop once we get to each area and then will we allocate time, donations and funds based on the greatest needs.
Angela Eve will be in charge of withdrawing funds from gofundme and allocating as needed during their journey. Funds that we don't use for supplies will be allocated to the groups or families we are working with directly through a cash or online donation.
