Reina's Campaign for Urban Resource Institute

Tax deductible
I'm raising money to benefit Urban Resource Institute, the largest provider of emergency shelter for domestic violence victims, homeless families, and adults with developmental disabilities in New York City.

As a NYC-dweller, concerned neighbor, and dog mama, Urban Resource Institute's (URI) mission means very much to me. As many as 48% of domestic violence victims stay in abusive situations because they don’t want to leave their pet behind. To further complicate the situation, the majority (97%) of the 3000 domestic violence shelters across the United States are not pet-friendly. To help close this gap, URI became the first organization in NYC to extend domestic violence shelter programs to pets (2013.) However, the work continues as we grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has increased the amount of time at-risk families are spending together in their homes. Home is not always a safe space, and having to spend additional time at home has become dangerous for some.

Your donation will help provide life saving shelter and services  to the clients we serve. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to stop by and learn more about URI. Without your help, we could not support the hundreds of women, men, children, and pets the organizations houses every night.

We are also excited to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate, we are hosting a free, virtual gala on Thursday October 22nd, 2020. The hour-long event will feature stories of our work, hosted by TV personalities Dr Drew , John Quiñones ,  Joy Taylor , and Aisha Tyler. Please sign up here  to secure your ticket!
