Re-homing Rain and Kids

Donation protected
Please meet my friends Rain and her kiddos-  her eldest is my daughter's best friend. In April 2018, Rain left a deeply unhappy and unhealthy 18yr relationship/marriage. Her husband made it untenable to remain in the house with her children and so for FOUR MONTHS she has been house-sitting in various homes and moving from place to place relying on the kindness of her community to keep her family safe and with shelter. That she has not had to resort to a homeless shelter or her car is a testament to how much she is valued and trusted within her community.

Rain is a marvel! Her children are kind and well-behaved. She has kept her head up and parented her kids with grace and honesty throughout these crucial months, as well as during the years she was kept in poverty with her (soon to be former) husband.  One week ago Rain found meaningful employment and now has an opportunity to rent a terrific place but does not have the immediate funds for the move-in costs.

The rental market in Eugene is abysmal, much like many places across the country, and she will need a roommate to make the rental viable longterm. She is searching and, because of the abysmal housing market, should be able find somebody. But, she must be picky because she has two young children.

I'm asking that we come together and give what we can contribute to her first and last month's rent so she can: a) quit stressing all day every day about it (she's so tired); b) take the time to find a quality housemate so her new place is a safe and happy home (they all need that so badly!).

In a society where our basic human needs are transactional and ever more expensive, not having enough capital to purchase nourishment and shelter, in particular, is dehumanizing. And, as more people lose the capacity to purchase their basic human needs, our society diminishes as a result.  Please join me in re-homing Rain and her kiddos and share in the joy of watching them soar and give back.
